Meticulously fashioned from the finest woods available—like Bastogne Walnut, Pale Moon Ebony, and Ash—this SR is the culmination of the combined efforts of the expert hands that helped shape it. The utmost care was utilized in this process, which can be observed in even the finest details. Just like the chemistry between musicians, the resonance between woods matters, and these choices were made with mindful intent.

A New Vision in Art and Sound
The IV2MDM is engineered to blend vintage inspiration with contemporary design to meet the demands of today's innovative players who are continually pushing the boundaries of musical creativity and sound.
Staying true to this concept, Ibanez selected a Black Limba top and Cocobolo fretboard for the primary materials to act as the aesthetic core of the design. Black Limba, also known as Korina, serves as a stunning top wood that’s paired with an Alder body, which provides a rich, yet well-balanced, and warm low-end. This delivers an excellent foundational tone for traditional supporting bass lines, but also excels in highlighting technically complex contemporary styles that feature frequent solos.
The Cocobolo fretboard offers a feel similar to Brazilian Rosewood, providing rich and complex overtones. The Black Limba top combined with the Cocobolo fretboard offers a compelling modern, boutique appearance. The rear control cavity plate is also made of Black Limba, adding another sophisticated visual element to further enhance the imaginative concept of the instrument.
Combined with other modern features like the specialized body for 24 frets, the Super All Access neck joint, and a comprehensive range of tonal controls, the bass produces a limitless groove, tonal possibilities, and uncompromised playability—all instilled by the hands of master luthiers at the Ibanez Japan Custom Shop.

A specially modified body is designed for perfect balance and smooth access to all 24 frets. Beyond the specialized body, the Super All Access neck joint further enhances playability with a highly contoured and ergonomic feel, ensuring even the highest frets are always within reach.
Designed for speed and comfort, the thin C-profile one-piece neck features rounded fretboard edges for an effortless feel. The neck uses S-TECH Roasted Maple, which delivers improved tone, extreme stability, and a rich, vintage-like aesthetic. This is achieved through a patented drying process that naturally removes moisture over time, mirroring the sound and character of aged wood. Medium stainless steel frets provide a snappy tonal response, ensuring superior durability and facilitating clean bends and slides. Finally, luminescent side dot markers offer clear guidance when performing on dark stages.
Super lightweight Gotoh RES-O-LITE tuners prevent neck-dive and ensure superb tuning accuracy.
The MR5S mono-rail bridge transfers each string vibration efficiently and delivers great clarity and sustain, which helps emphasize chordal playing and fast passages. It features custom-made Brass saddles, providing a rich and warm tone. It also offers adjustable string spacing.
The new Ibanez Delta S5J pickups deliver an aggressive yet balanced single-coil tone that responds clearly and evenly in all frequency ranges. They’re voiced to cut powerfully through any mix while eliminating noise, thanks to their hum-canceling design.
These pickups are paired with the Sonitech preamp. Crafted in Japan with premium components, this preamp is designed to offers a comprehensive range of tonal controls, including:
•Master volume and balancer
•Master Tone
•3-band EQ
•An EQ bypass switch
•A 3-way mid-frequency switch
The master tone control operates in both active and passive mode. Additionally, the 2-way Hexa mid system is located on the back of the bass, allowing you to choose between two different mid-frequency banks for a total of six selectable mid-frequency points. The higher bank frequencies are 350Hz, 600Hz and 1KHz, and the lower bank frequencies are 250Hz, 450Hz and 850Hz. Together, the Delta pickups and the Sonitech preamp provide an exceptional level of versatility to suit a wide variety of musical and performance styles.
