BIOGRAPHY
Luigi Schiavone (Rome, 8 September 1959) is an Italian guitar player and historic collaborator of the Italian singer Enrico Ruggeri. He makes a debut in the 1970s with Kaos Rock, a very famous band on the alternative scene in Milan. With the band Schiavone publishes two LPs and an album entitled W.W. 3 for the renowned record label Cramps.
In 1981, after the breakup of Kaos Rock, Schiavone starts a long collaboration with Enrico Ruggeri on the occasion of the release of the singer-songwriter's first album as a soloist Champagne Molotov.
This is the prelude to Ruggeri's next album, Polvere (1983). The music of the album's most famous piece is composed by Schiavone himself and contributes to making Ruggeri known to a larger public. This LP also marks the beginning of the group Champagne Molotov with its historic members Luigi Schiavone and Renato Meli.
In 1984, Luigi releases C'è la neve, the first LP by Champagne Molotov. The band accompanies Ruggeri on his tour with its permanent members: Luigi Schiavone (guitars), Renato Meli (base), Stefania Schiavone (piano), Alberto Rocchetti (keyboards) and Luigi Fiore (drums). In that year Champagne Molotov participates in the music programme Festivalbar and wins the Green Disc as best young artist. In 1985, the band takes part in the Sanremo Festival in the young artists category with the piece Volti nella noia, which is also composed by Schiavone.
During the years he spends with Champagne Molotov, Schiavone keeps composing for Enrico Ruggeri too, a collaboration which continues throughout the years, and includes Schiavone's 6 albums as a solo guitarist (in 1991, La spina nel fianco, with a contribution by Massimo Riva, in 1993 Animale, in 1997 III , in 2010 16 Steps to the Sky, his first fully instrumental album, in 2017 A-Nova and in 2019 B Positive, instrumental albums too).
In recent years Schiavone founds a cover band called Riff-Raff, a tribute to AC-DC, with which he plays for fun for a couple of years and with which he takes part in the event La notte delle Chitarre all over Italy, together with Maurizio Solieri , Cesareo, Ricky Portera, Max Cottafavi, Luca Colombo, Mario Giuseppe Scarpato and Fabrizio Consoli.
In 1995, Schiavone plays the guitars in the piece "Meravigliosa creatura" by Gianna Nannini.
In 2008, he plays "Tear Down These Houses", a piece by Skin, which becomes the soundrack of "Parlami d'amore", a film by Gabriele Muccino.
Together with Enrico Ruggeri, he keeps composing songs for many singers, including Fiorella Mannoia, Gianni Morandi, Anna Oxa and Loredana Bertè. As musician, he played in Gianna Nannini, Clandestino, Spagna albums. Since 2016 he has been on tour in theaters with the duo "Ale and Franz"
