Barawinda Sonjaya

Born in Bandung, Indonesia, Barawinda Sonjaya, professionally known as Bara, is an artist, composer, arranger, and music producer with 23 years of experience in the music industry. His classical music background has evolved into a diverse exploration of genres, including New Orleans jazz, blues, country, R&B, funk, orchestral music, and neo-soul.
Bara is known for his distinctive musical approach, including playing electric guitar without a pick and exploring laid-back phrasing and microtiming. By intentionally placing notes slightly behind or around the main beat, he creates a unique groove and rhythmic character that defines his playing style.
As a creative artist, Bara develops music through orchestral compositions, soundtracks, theatrical productions, and commercial arrangements. He serves as Composer and Head of Music at Theater Bumi Panca Swara Production while continuing to develop his solo career through his EP Segalabu (2019), the album Console (2023), inspired by retro arcade and console music, and two orchestral singles.
Beyond music production, Bara actively participates in coaching clinics and collaborates with various music and fashion brands. For him, music is not just about performance, but also about creating work with character, meaning, and a personal connection with its listeners.
Looking ahead, Bara is focused on developing his orchestral works and continuing to expand his creative exploration as an artist and music producer.
