A true standout even within this impressive collection, this RG8 establishes an incredible benchmark for the skills, talents and imagination of the LA Custom Shop team. The name Echo, is derived from the hollowed out body wings of this guitar and how if one found themselves alone in any type of chamber, they might hear an echo or two. The LA Custom Shop team aimed to incorporate many elements not typically found on standard Ibanez 8-string models. Built in the general style of the j.Custom series, the centerpiece of this RG8 is a modified Tree of Life inlay that was reconfigured to encompass the entirety of the ultra-wide fingerboard. Other one-off features include a 5pc Roasted Maple neck, unique box set neck construction and hidden dual truss rod access in the neck pickup cavity. By placing the truss rod access in this location, the team was able to maintain a cleaner, more customized aesthetic. The LA Custom Shop team also opted for a hollow body design (minus the f holes), which makes this RG8, weighing in at a mere 7.5 pounds, one of the lightest ever produced.
