"DALE"

This SR model represents an authentic reproduction of the renowned American Master series from the late 80’s and early 90’s. As such, the team opted to include a little history while naming this axe, “Dale,” for the latter half of Glendale, California, where Master Luthier, Tak Hosono’s shop was located at the time, and it was the place many of the originals were built. The LA team sought to carry forward the key characteristics and historical elements of this acclaimed line in the form of a top-flight, hand-built bass guitar. Like its American Master predecessors, this bass is imbued with the same refinements and attention to detail as any instrument originating from the legendary LA Custom Shop. In fact, some of the most unique elements of this bass are the finest details, like the custom-made wooden truss rod cover at the neck joint. The neck joint is made of the same woods as the neck block, enhancing a smooth, seamless look. The American Master SR4 utilizes a vintage SR shape, rather than the more rounded contemporary style, adding to the nostalgic vibe of this exceptional bass.

DYNAMICS IN THE DETAILS

It’s a small detail, but the custom truss rod cover is made from the same neck woods as the bass itself, a design which blends seamlessly into the overall appearance of the instrument. This point of detail goes a long way towards maintaining a consistent aesthetic and enhancing the overall custom quality of this SR.

AN AUTHENTIC HOMAGE

Neck-thru construction paired with a Maple / Purpleheart neck and center block was a key combination at the core of the American Master series, and this design element has been reincorporated into the special reissue. This combination not only maintains a true and authentic representation of the original series, but provides a clean and classic look to the back of the bass.

A FULLY FAMILIAR FEEL

This bass utilizes a vintage SR body design, rather than the more rounded, contemporary shape. The front and back of the body are flat, and the bass features a conventional forearm and belly cut, making the American Master SR4 especially comfortable for those more accustomed to traditional bass bodies and their relief cuts.
