"SLICK"
With unquestionably modern, compelling, and “slick” aesthetics, this RGA amps up the contemporary design cues to the max. While the RGA7 features a figured top, it’s the finish that takes center stage here. The Arctic Oil Spill Burst finish, from which this guitar draws its nickname, offers a subtle transparency, allowing just a hint of the Quilted Maple to come though. The effect of this slightly transparent finish is impressively dramatic. The opacity of the finish creates the impression of viewing the guitar’s top through a sheet of ice. To further enhance this wintery motif, Abalone/Pearloid block inlays run the entire span of the Rosewood fretboard, further complementing the theme with their shimmering, crystalline presence. The finish is held back from covering the entire top, leaving the edges exposed, creating a figured wood binding effect, while actual Quilted Maple Binding runs the perimeter of the fretboard. Both elements allow a bit of the natural figuring of the Maple to shine through the muting effect of the finish.
