While generally familiar in shape, this otherwise conventional looking RG features a truly unique aesthetic choice that walks the line between retro and modern. The use of a stainless steel top achieves a finished look that simply wouldn’t be possible with conventional materials. The textured metal cap delivers visible striations underneath the transparent gloss finish with far more uniformity in the pattern than would ever be possible with a wood top. Additionally, the patterns seen on the metal were meticulously hand engraved by one of Ibanez’s custom shop luthiers. The contemporary tilt of this guitar is further enhanced with a heavy dose of chrome accents, including the pickup covers. The covers act as another call out to the actual infusion of metal on this renowned maker of heavy metal. Then, to further “Cap-Off” the metal motif, a stainless steel headstock facing was added to complete the metallic-themed effect and deliver an invincible and energetic custom look across the entire span of the instrument.
