Biography

As a founding member of the Grateful Dead, Bob Weir is nothing less than a rock icon. His current band, Dead & Company, which he formed with Grateful Dead members Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, also features John Mayer.
Respected by fans and peers alike as one of rock's great rhythm guitarists, his unique chord voicings and original rhythm approach are legendary. While his arsenal of instruments has been wide and varied over the years, Bob has frequently been associated with the striking, one-of-a-kind "Cowboy Fancy" model, originally built in close collaboration with Ibanez in 1976.

Originally based on the body shape of an earlier Ibanez Artist model, the BWM1 was modified with several traditional hollow-body twists that give it its own unique appearance, and embellished with ornate inlay work that recalls the fancy guitars and even fancier outfits of old Country and Western stars of years gone by. Keeping with his own adventurous mindset, the BWM1 was also equipped with a unique electronics setup, specifically requested by Weir during the guitar's development.

This latest reissue, the BWM1BS, features a Swamp Ash body and 5-piece Maple/Walnut BWM "neck-through" neck. The bound Ebony fretboard is fitted with medium frets and adorned with the classic Ibanez "Tree-of-Life" inlay, while its larger-than-usual headstock was a specific request from Bob to increase sustain. The Accu-cast replica bridge was selected for its historical accuracy, its superior sustain, and reliable intonation.

The BWM1BS includes a DiMarzio® PAF™ 36th Anniversary humbucker in both the neck and bridge positions, along with a DiMarzio® Area 61™ single coil in the middle position. Each pickup is wired for a variety of options that include humbucker coil-tapping and on/off switching for each pickup.
Also included is the special 3-band EQ with EQ on/off switching.

Hardshell case and /The Untold Story/ Ibanez history book included.
