For more than 40 years, Ibanez has pioneered new frontiers in bass development, pushing the boundaries of conventional designs for bass players of all styles and an aptitude for new ways of expressing themselves. This spirit of exploration has led to some of the most successful and popular production basses of all time. It is this same drive to bring new and relevant ideas to the forefront that serves as the basis for an ongoing exploratory project, appropriately dubbed the Ibanez Bass Workshop.
The impetus behind each one of these unique instruments comes from a personal desire by one or more members of the Ibanez bass development group to satisfy the particular needs of a very particular player. These inventions may not be for everyone, but for those who yearn to explore new sonic vistas through the medium of bass: The Ibanez Bass Workshop project may give you just what you’re looking for.
It's difficult to imagine increasing the amount of sustain the Ibanez BTB has to offer, but with the added mass and stability afforded by this unique single cutaway reworking, the BTB Terra Firma gives you just that. Capitalizing on the shortened distance from the body to headstock, string vibration is optimized beyond anything we've ever achieved before.
This extended Upper Horn creates constant contact with the neck from the 12th to the 24th fret, providing maximum stability and increased sustain.
The back of the neck is sculpted for comfort and easy access to the very highest notes. The smooth, graceful contour allows the palm of the left hand to move quickly and easily as it transitions up the neck, into the underside of the bass body.
The Maple/Rosewood combination creates one of the strongest Through-Necks available. The density of the Rosewood, combined with the strength of the Maple, increases stability and sustain through the entire body of the bass. The 35" scale provides a bit more tension for the low B and improves definition in the lower range.
The stainless steel frets are known for their bright tone, and they add player-friendly features, such as long durability and a smoothness to bend on.
A "zero" fret provides accurate intonation, while allowing open strings to ring with the same resonance as notes played up the neck.
The Mono-rail V bridge enables a wider intonation adjustment range, and each isolated saddle is securely locked to the body for maximum vibration transfer with minimal sympathetic string interference.
The Bartolini® BH2 pickups provide a tight bottom-end, punchy mid-range, and smooth response. The dual-coil style configuration maximizes articulation and a long blade pole piece widens the magnetic field, providing balanced string-to-string pickup response.
The active 3-band EQ features a fully independent bass, treble, and mid controls with a wide boost/cut range. The mid-frequency select switch enables the selection of 250HZ, 450Hz and 700Hz - the heart of the mid zone - for a more dynamic tone.
Neutrik® locking jack provides stable and secure connections, preventing accidental disconnect or shock and vibration.
