Little Tybee is a progressive folk band based out of Atlanta, GA. Formed in 2009, the group has continually made strides to bridge existing genres into their own brand of calculated, technical music which refuses to sacrifice the accessibility of a singer-songwriter. Since the release of their third full-length album, For Distant Viewing, the band's extensive touring of the US and abroad has not only cemented their penchant for tight orchestration, but also provided the meaningful relationships and experiences essential for fueling future creativity. As a complement to the technical precision of their live performances, Little Tybee maintains an active online presence with a reputation for self-producing high-quality video content. The band's electric guitarist, Josh Martin, has used his 8-string to carve a niche in the extended range guitar community by combining various forms of tapping, flamenco, and thumping techniques into a style wholly his own. Through the support of an old music school friend, Tosin Abasi, the band has accrued a diverse international fanbase of metal-heads and hipsters alike, one atypical of a folk outfit adorned with delicate violin and falsetto vocals. Little Tybee faces 2015 with the recording of an as-yet-untitled album. The release of this album is set to challenge the existing digital distribution methods by providing a direct link to the band's vast library of content. This link will be made via a USB device inside a cast of hand-crafted sculptures representing characters tied to the album's themes. The album is slated to be released in the summer of 2015 with an accompanying US tour.
