Achim vehemently dove headfirst into music at a young age: cello at age 10, guitar at 14 and bass as an 18-year-old; at age 19 he recorded his first album. Based in Hamburg, Germany since 1989, he has made a career of performing with various pop, rock, jazz and fusion bands. These include live gigs and CDs with Inga Rumpf, Otto Waalkes, GRP Records (with Nils Gessinger, Vinnie Colaiuta & Robben Ford), Achim Reichel, Orange Blue, No Angels, Stefan Gwildis, German Jazz Echo winner Ulita Knaus, Michael Sadler (SAGA) and Jazul with Nils Landgren. Achim's outstanding musicality allows him to perform music in almost any genre. Armed with his 4, 5 and 6 string as well as fretless basses, he deeply enriches every band project he participates in. His signature sound ranges from mellow and smooth to grating and ultra fat, one of the secrets to his sheer endless versatility.
